Here’s a nice excuse to go to the Foundling Museum (which have been meaning to visit for approx 12 years): Quentin Blake’s hospital murals are on show till 15 April, eg these lovely ones for a French maternity hospital. “The illustrations are a way of saying ‘it’s going to be alright in a minute’ says Blake.

Good interview about his mural work for hospitals, dealing with eating problems and old age: “I do believe art can help people but these are not, in some ghastly phrase, commissions to be therapeutic… The people in some of my drawings are simply in strange situations which they are more or less coping with…”
