Thanks to June Nicholls for this link to fantastic program about Brian Clarke, stained glass artist who I’d shamefully never heard of. Best thing I’ve ever seen about being an artist. Everyone going to What is the Point of Being an Artist session at Battle Of Ideas this weekend should see it!
Full of memorable quotes, eg “when you are suddenly and unexpectedly given access to an experience that alters your view of the world, it gives you a taste of freedom” and how he had one as a child in York Minster, where combination of architecture+art+light made him realise art “could give you a glimpse into Paradise”.
And he can draw superbly. A nice man.
